RAPIDS “WIN” AT BURKE CENTRE

EVEN RECORD AT 2-2 !

The Cascades Rapids traveled to Burke Centre on Saturday and beat the legendary Penguins 233-211. The meet was close all day with every swimmer giving 100% and the lead changing with almost every race. With the meet on the line the 15-18 boys medley relay took center stage and pulled off what can only be described as “the miracle in the pool”. Burke Center’s finest built up what looked like an insurmountable lead through the first 3 legs of the race but William Lin swam a blazing fast anchor leg and out touched the Penguin freestyler sealing the Rapids victory. The last 10 meters of this race were amazing !

Wow ! What a finish !!

The 15-18 boy relay team also set a new team record with that swim ! Way to go Max Propp, Bryce Dowling, Sean Hurrell, and William Lin!

There were numerous outstanding performances today including 4 other team records set by William. Triple winners included Rachel Williams, William Lin, Karen Hood, and Nelson Chen. Double winners included Ryan Murphy and Nicholas Sibley. The win was a total team effort!!

The Rapids come back home next week to face the 4-0 league leading Franklin Farm Froggers. Every year the Frogger meet comes down to the last relay and my guess is this year will be no exception.

Thanks to Mike Marrocco for the meet review!!!

Meet Highlights

Rapids Fall to Stingrays,

The Cascades Rapids lost on Saturday to the undefeated South Riding Sting Rays, who have an eye on this year’s Red Division crown. The Sting Rays swam with power and determination while knocking off the three time defending champion Cascades Rapids. The Rapids swimmers all gave it their best shot, in fact they swam freestyle to a virtual draw and won numerous close races,  but the depth of the Stingrays was a bit to much to overcome and the final score was 248-195.  Outstanding performances for the Rapids included Triple winner Nelson Chen and Double winners Rachel Williams, and Justin Touve.  The Rapids travel to Burke Center next Saturday to take on the Penguins.
