Cascades Rapids Swim Team

The Cascades Rapids is a member-run, family-oriented summer swim team that seeks to provide a fun and competitive environment for the swimmers in the Cascades community.  The team consists of approximately 200 swimmers from 150 families that compete in the Colonial Swim League.


Rapids End The 09' Season Strong. Another Team Record Goes Down!

The Cascades Rapids 2009 Season culminated with the Colonial Swim League Allstar meet on Saturday in Burke Va. The Rapids had a league leading 27 swimmers qualify for the opportunity to compete against all the fastest swimmers from the entire league at Allstars. And has been the case all year. The Rapids stepped up and swam like champions!! The Rapids had 11 top three finishes including 5 first place finishes, 3 second place finishes, and 3 third place finishes. Very big congratulations to:

Kiri Harvey swam a blazing 33.00 flat in her butterfly race demolishing the old team record of 34.10 set by Bridget Werner in 2005. Wow !! That's fast !!

What a year it has been. The Cascades Rapids went 5-0 and won the Red Division Championship for the first time since 03', beat teams we haven't beaten in almost 10 years, 3 of our age groups (9-10 boys, 11-12 boys, 13-14 boys) won their respective championships, Rapids swimmers set an amazing 13 new team records and a CSL league record during the year, and the Rapids had a league leading 27 swimmers qualify for the CSL Allstars. These kinds of years don't come along very often......way to go 09' Rapids !!!!

Rapids Receive Divisional Trophies

  

The Rapids collected the team trophy for winning the Red Division Saturday at the divisional meet. In addition to the team trophy, the Rapids Boys 9-10, Boys 11-12, and boys 13-14 all won their respective ages groups for the season as well.

Rapids Rally to Complete Perfect Season !!

Max does it again !!

On Saturday The Rapids found themselves in an unfamiliar situation. The defending Red Division Champion Broadland Piranhas started fast and had a large lead after backstroke. The Rapids then showed why they are the new champions. With powerful performances in breaststroke, butterfly, and relays the Rapids rallied back to take the victory. The Rapids finished the dual meet season a perfect 5-0 and are the Colonial Swim League Champions !! Way to go Rapids ! Triple winners on Saturday included Ryan Murphy, Kiri Harvey, and Max Propp. Max Propp set another new team record in the 13-14 boys backstroke by lowering his own time to 32.22...that makes 7 new team record setting performances by Max this season. Go Max Go !! Congratulations to all the swimmers and coaches on another fabulous swim season !! Next up.......Rock'n Relay, Divisionals, and All Stars.

Team records under seige ! Super Max strikes again !

Max Propp has been involved in 5 new team records so far this year. On Wednesday night he made it 6. Swimming the last event of the evening Max powered through the 13-14 boys individual medly clocking in with a time of 1:09.84. Another new team record !! The old record of 1:10.28 was set in 2002 by Andrew Shanley. Keep it up Max !!!

Rapids take 2nd at Allstar Relay Carnival !! Set League Record !!

The Cascades Rapids sent their fastest relay teams to the CSL Allstar Relay Carnival on Sunday to compete against 18 other teams and came away with a strong 2nd place finish. The Burke Center Penquins narrowly edged out the Rapids to take first place. The 11-12 boys medley relay team consisting of William Lin, John Paul Popovich, Vince Marrocco, and Justin Touve swam a blazing 2:10.05, winning their event by almost 5 seconds and setting a new Colonial Swim League Record !! Way to go boys !! Other first place finishes were the boys mixed age freestyle relay of Max Propp, Sean Bergman, William Lin, and Devin Bowers and the 11-12 mixed freestyle relay consisting of John Paul Popovich, Lindsey Oteyza, Kiri Harvey, and William Lin.
